AOL Community Challenge-AGED•WINNERS•

This challenge has been one of the most difficult to judge, most of the entries came in with very close scores.
Usually we don't post 3 winners, but because the scores
were close, I decided to post the top 3 photos in this challenge.

Congratulations to the winners!

ROB:
Its so nice to see so many wonderful entries.  This was a tough group because there were a lot of interesting images and the scores were close on many of them - which makes it all the more fun to judge!  If this is indicative of the response we'll get to the new format, I'm very pleased - and its also nice to see some new 'faces' in the mix!

Betty:
It was not easy, I have to say I really had a very hard time...Thanks for asking me. I hope I did a decent job.

Thank you Betty, you did a great job!
AND thank you Rob, for your continued support in our challenge!

Vicki is our First Place Winner

Vicki is one of our Judges that is on vacation & did not judge in this Challenge, so she was eligible for the challenge.

 Dan,  comes in 2nd Place

Gina is our 3rd Place Winner

Congratulations to everyone and the winners. A special thanks to Marie,  Vicki and Rob for their hard work....we really appreciate your time effort.

I agreed to help this week, not realizing this is NOT an easy task. I printed out all the entries, sat looking over each photo, remembering my mentoring sessions I had over the years with very talented photographers, what makes a good image.  Keep in mind, I am also learning and do not consider myself an expert....phew!!!!

What I might consider a perfect picture in my mind might not be so perfect....a great way of learning, even though at times the critique might hurt but I bounce back with another lesson learned :).

You are all winners in my book and very special group.

You picked some of my favorites.  Vicki's was wonderful, and I think it does stand out above the rest, if only by the slimmest of margins.

Thanks to the judges...remember, I KNOW how hard this is. :) Congratulations to Dan and Gina...I'm thrilled that my image was included with yours as the best of a very excellent bunch of photos! I'm honored that my one attempt to enter into the mix and join in the running was met with such approval. Thanks to everyone for your comments, as well. :)

I just finally finished visiting all the entries for both the fun and the judged categories. There were so many really exceptional photos! I don't know how you guys did the judging - how difficult that must have been! Even in the fun category, how did you ever choose what to showcase?
Anyway, just wanted to stop by and thank all of you who work so hard pulling all of this together! Don't forget your helper is here if ever needed :-)

I loved the first one with the aged hands mending the old net - it is an EXCELLENT fit for the category!!!  It had my vote from the beginning.  And I was glad to see Mingus's Mill included; it is a great example of "Old Americana", and the photo really does do it justice!  And the textures of the fallen leaf and ice were tantalizingly beautiful.  No wonder you had trouble picking!  Great photos by some VERY talented folks with a good eye for subject matter and composition, from the great to the small, an eye for the 'big picture' as well as a sharp focus on the details.  Nice job to all; and to all the contestants whose photo blogs / journals I visited -- so much nice work!  Glad to see folks are having a fun time with this, and producing fantastic results for you to ponder over!  (Many were SO good!)

I'm looking forward to your next fun challenge -- this was great!

Sincerely,
Michael, over at http://journals.aol.com/mhogue3909/greenspaces.com/ and
