Bob and I were visiting Zion and I met a very talented photographer, Edwin Firmage, who was selling and displaying his work. Check his site http://www.firmageditions.com/info.html
He was telling me where he was going to shoot the morning sunrise, a beautiful area behind the information center. Honestly, you could not go wrong shooting there :). Thanks again.

I so wanted to do this challenge....and life just never let me out of it's grasp at the magic hour. This is a beautiful image. I'll hop around and see the others.
Marie, you picked a perfect image to use to highlight the challenge. I really like the fact that, while it was taken at sunrise, it's not a photo OF the sunrise. The golden hour is really all about how the light during that magical time strikes the objects we see everyday and transforms them. Betty--you did a wonderful job with this shot!

To clarify how to find the magic hour (hour before sunset or after sunrise, can extand past each hour). I can best describe how to locate, face a sunset or sunrise and then turn around there is your magic hour of lighting.
My picture featured here, the sunrise was behind me, highligting the mountain I took. I will post a few more pictures on the same mountain so you can see how the magic hour grew that morning.
By far this is the best lighting to take pictures. I was not aware of the Magic Hour until Greg posted on my journal.

I felt this was the best example of The Magic Hour. That was why I highlighted it. It's not about the sunset, it is about the light at that time of the day.
On my journal, I wanted to show the colors all around me & how different they were. The photos themselves were weak, but the colors were there. I will be working on the Magic hour this summer. I plan another entry on my journal later on in the summer, possibly in the fall.
